大学禁食牛肉,学生们却积极响应,这是怎么回事?

从9月开始，伦敦大学金史密斯学院（Goldsmiths, University of London）将会从学生的菜单中剔除所有含牛肉的食物，来应对日益严峻的气候危机。

牛肉汉堡（beef burgers）、墨西哥卷饼（burritos），以及其他颇受学生欢迎的经典含牛肉美食都将从校园的食堂、咖啡馆和食品店菜单中消失。
此前，科学家们发表过研究结果，认为相比其他牲畜，牛对环境造成的危害更为严重。

英国气候变化委员会（Committee on Climate Change）的一份报告显示，大部分英国农场温室气体的排放，来自羊肉、牛肉以及乳制品生产所产生的温室气体 （lamb, beef and dairy production accounts for the majority of greenhouse gases emitted by farms in Britain ▲ via CNN） 。
2016年，58%左右的英国农业温室气体排放直接来自绵羊和牛 （sheep and cattle directly responsible for around 58% of agricultural emissions ▲ via CNN） 。
从全球范围来讲，生产牛肉的碳排放占家畜温室气体排放的41%，家畜碳排放占全球碳排放总量的14.5% （beef is responsible for 41% of livestock greenhouse gas emissions, and livestock accounts for 14.5% of total global emissions ▲ via CNN） 。
而伦敦大学金史密斯学院每年的碳排放大约是370万千克 （3.7 million kg of carbon ▲ viaBBC） 。
该校新上任的校长弗朗西斯•科纳（Frances Corner）教授宣布，到2025年，该校希望实现零碳排放（carbon neutral）。

A psychology undergraduate, Isabelle Gosse, 20, said she thought the move was“a really good start to being moreenvironmentally friendly”.
20岁的心理学本科生伊莎贝尔·高斯表示，她认为此举是“参与环保的一个非常好的开始”。
She added:“I think it’s a really positive move – Goldsmiths is recognising its ownpower and accountability in being more environmentally conscious.
