Learning these will not only improve your comprehension and use of the words, but also help you guess the meaning of some unknown words.
学术英语词汇中的许多词都有相同的词根、前缀或者后缀，了解这些拉丁或希腊语的词源，掌握一些构词法，不仅可以提高对现有词汇的理解和运用，还能帮助你猜测一些生词的意思，从而迅速扩展你的词汇量。
For example, once you learn that the word "form" means "shape", you'll begin to understand other words likeconform, reform,formulate, transform, deformetc. Same thing happens to prefixes. If you know "out-" means "more, better", you can figure out words likeoutperform,outbid,outdoand so on. Though suffixes usually change the word form rather than the meaning, along with root words and prefixes, are useful to build vocabulary.
比方说，如果你知道词根"form"的意思，就可以推测其它以"form"为词根的许多生词；前缀也是同样的道理。虽然大多数后缀只改变词性，不改变词义，但仍是扩展词汇量的有效方法。
